Project Description
Orange County Public School’s $15 million Westbrooke Elementary School is located in West Orange County. The two-story building is approximately 96,927 square feet and includes classrooms, administration offices and activity areas as well as rooms for art, music and new technology. This project also included kitchen and dining areas along with associated drives, parking lot, playing fields, outdoor activities, and site utilities.
Among the special features at Westbrooke is a synchronized fire alarm system that automatically closes doors and activates voice-prompted instructions as well as water panel curtains on each window. Also, flat panel televisions are in each classroom for students to receive daily bulletins produced by students from the internal broadcast station. The design approach uses tilt-up construction, structural steel beams, columns, and span joist systems facilitating constructability.
