Project details

Project overview

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) commissioned a critical infrastructure project for the Orlando International Airport (MCO) expansion: the MPOE Communication Facility. Designed as the central hub for essential utility services, this $1.8 million project navigated the challenges of limited space and high-value real estate within the active airport grounds. DAO, the engineering firm, conducted comprehensive site selection and provided extensive site engineering services, including stormwater compliance, floodplain analysis, and fire protection analysis.

Completed in 2019, the project exemplified technical expertise in integrating critical infrastructure within a major international airport’s dynamic setting. Its complexity was evident in the multi-faceted permitting requirements, necessitating approvals from GOAA, the City of Orlando, and SFWMD. The MPOE Communication Facility stands as a testament to effective planning and engineering in a highly regulated, space-constrained environment, underscoring the project’s adherence to stringent regulatory standards across multiple jurisdictions.
